BRIEF HISTORY of the CHESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB (reproduced from 'Wikipedia' pages)

Chester City Football Club was an English football team from Chester which played in a variety of leagues between 1885 and 2010. The club which was founded as Chester F.C., joined the Football League in 1931. Over the next eight decades, the club spent most of its time competing in the lower divisions. Its original ground was Sealand Road (1906-1990). In 1983, the club was renamed Chester City. The club moved to the Deva Stadium in 1992 after its original stadium was sold to developers. Although for two years the club was obliged to play home games at Macclesfield Town's Moss Rose. Chester won the Conference National, their only league title, in 2004.

The club was served a winding-up order by HM Revenue & Customs in January 2010. There had been repeated financial problems during the 200910 Conference season, affecting multiple fixtures. Although the club was put up for sale, it was suspended from the Conference National for breaches of rules, and expelled in February 2010, all league results for the season being expunged. With the official winding up of Chester City, supporters immediately began forming a new club. Chester F.C. was officially established in May 2010.

BRIEF HISTORY of the new! ... CHESTER FOOTBALL CLUB (reproduced from 'Wikipedia' pages)

Chester Football Club is a supporter-owned association football club from Chester, England. The club was founded in 2010 following the winding-up of Chester City F.C. The club began its inaugural season in the Northern Premier League Division One North following a successful appeal to the FA against their initial placement in the Northwest Counties League. The team plays its home games at the Deva Stadium, which is geographically in Flintshire, Wales.

In the club's first three seasons it was the successive league champions of the NPL Division One North (201011), the NPL Premier Division (201112), and the Conference North (201213). Although Chester F.C. finished in the relegation zone in its first season in the Conference Premier (201314), the club earned a reprieve after Hereford United was expelled for financial problems. The club finished 12th in the Conference Premier in the 201415 season.
