** Football League Notes **
Peterborough United were elected to join the English Football League after winning the Midland
League five straight seasons from 1955-60, replacing Gateshead AFC who relegated to the Midland
League. Petersborough United went to win the title in the Fourth Division in their very first
year in the Football League.
