** Football League Notes **
The 1914-15 season would be the last played as World War I forced suspension of all Football activities.
Tottenham Hotspur were the only relegated club from the First Division as the League expanded to 22 clubs
in each division after World War I was over. Derby County, Preston North End and Arsenal were promoted to
First Division after the war as the League expanded. It is said that Sir Henry Norris arranged for the
Arsenal's promotion back to the First Division, in controversial circumstances. Glossop failed to be
re-elected to the Football League, never to return again. A resurrected Stoke, along with Coventry City,
South Shields, Rotherham County and West Ham United joined the Second Division after the war for the
1919-20 season.
