** Football League Notes **
Blackpool and Stockport County gained admission into the League from the Lancashire League. Burton Swifts
merged in 1901 with Burton Wanderers to form Burton United, which continued in the league the following
season. Walsall failed re-election to the league and did not return until the 1921–22 season, when they
joined the Third Division North. New Brighton Tower was disbanded in the summer of 1901, and replaced
in the League by Doncaster Rovers.
