** Football League Notes **
New Brighton Tower were elected to the League from the Lancashire League where they were champions.
Burslem Port Vale were founding members of the Second Division and joined the Football League in
the process. Barnsley joined the League from the Midland League. Glossop North End joined the League
after two seasons in the Midland League and finished as runners-up in their first season and gaining
promotion to the top division. Blackpool and Darwen failed re-election and were replaced by Chesterfield
and Middlesbrough for the 1899-1900 season.
