July 2 ~ Due to the addition of two teams to the National League, teams from the west only visit twice a season now. With the rain back in April between the Padres and Phillies forced a doubleheader to be recheduled on Friday July 2nd. San Diego had no more scheduled games in the eastern time zone, so were forced to wait out an extra long rain delay. Game #1 had two different rain delays and the game did not conclude until after 1am Saturday morning. Game #2 was then started at around 1:45 am and did not finish until 4:40 am in the morning, which still stands as the latest played game ever in MLB history. One final note: more people were at the game in the end than when the ballgame began. LOL!!! |
